# Compose: Configuring authentication methods

Set `ZULIP_AUTH_BACKENDS` to a comma-separated list of the backend names (e.g.,
`"EmailAuthBackend,GoogleAuthBackend"`). This takes the place of
`SETTING_AUTHENTICATION_BACKENDS`.
